We're one of the oldest RC soaring clubs in North America, chartered with the AMA as club #1957, and we've been reading the North Texas sky long enough to know where the lift hides. Once a month we run a contest — F5J for the four-meter moulded ships, F5L for two-meter wood. The rest of the time we just fly. Dues are $20 a year, watching is free, and if you have never touched a transmitter, we will put one in your hands.
Monthly F5J at Jim Fulton Field in Grand Prairie, and the points count toward Top Gun. Pilot meeting at 9:00 a.m., first launch right after. Weather calls and last-minute changes go out on the flying-notices list the night before, which is worth joining if you're driving any distance.

That's the normal way to start. Come out on a contest Saturday, park with the other cars, and watch a few rounds — somebody will notice you inside about ninety seconds, which is what a small club is for. When you're ready, ask about On-Wing and we'll pair you with a pilot who'll launch a club ship for you, talk you onto a thermal, and take the sticks back before anything expensive happens.
The Texas National Tournament comes to Golden Triangle this year. Two days, at least ten rounds, Expert, Junior and Sportsman classes, and prizes down to fifth. Sign-up is open now and Sportsman entry is free.
